In the US last night, the Dow gained 5 points to close at 17,408, while the Nasdaq lost 10 points at 5,034 and the S&P 500 edged 3 points lower to 2,083.
In Asia today, the Nikkei was recently down 76 points at 20,520, while the Hang Seng had gained 23 points at 24,042.
WTI crude oil traded at $41.94 a barrel and Brent at $49.23.
Gold settled at $1,112.8 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
In the corporate diary today, interim results are expected from Afarak Group, Akers Biosciences, Biofrontera and Romgaz, while Daily Internet, Datang Intl Power Generation, Heath (Samuel) & Sons, iEnergizer, Oryx International Growth Fund, Source BioScience, Unicorn Aim Vct are set to host shareholder meetings.
