The headline index is tipped to start the day in positive territory, according to financial websites, ahead of today's Budget statement, with any significant move likely to be curtailed by the ongoing Greek impasse along with jitters in China as around 25 per cent of leading shares are suspended to stem the downturn.
Meanwhile, US markets traded higher overnight.
US & ASIA
In the US last night, the Dow added 93 points to close at 17,777, the Nasdaq gained 5 points at 4,997 and the S&P 500 climbed 12 points higher to 2,081.
In Asia today, the Nikkei was recently down 577 points at 19,800 and the Hang Seng had lost 1,029 points at 23,953.
WTI crude oil traded at $52.07 a barrel and Brent at $56.62.
Gold settled at $1,153.1 an ounce.
LONDON MARKETS
In the corporate diary today, Active Energy Group, Palace Capital and Sainsbury (J) are due to host shareholder meetings.
